E3 updates

Post by Admin on Tue Jun 05, 2012 1:19 pm

Samsung gaming: Samsung who is the world's biggest manufacturer of TV sets, is joining the gaming market. But Samsung isn't launching a dedicated games 'console'. It's making war on the incumbent powers in gaming by simply adding a cloud service to its newest generation of Internet-connected TV sets.

Anyone who owns a new Samsung TV will be offered a games service app and, assuming they have a PC-standard controller, will be able to play a selection of games via the TV. The service, from cloud gaming company Gaikai, offers up playable demos and trials of games, and the consumer can then pay to stream the full game. Publishers set the prices of games. It's not unlike watching a movie on Amazon Instant Video. Games available on Gaikai include Mass Effect 3, Rayman Origins, The Witcher 2 and FIFA 2012.

Gaikai's CEO David Perry says, "I would expect the TVs in the future to include controllers. I'd be stunned if they don't put controllers in with all the TVs. So it'll just become a piece of the packaging, you know? You'll get your remote control and you'll get your game controller."

Since it launched in 2008, Gaikai has managed to secure content deals with leading games publishers including EA, Capcom and Ubisoft and distribution deals with Wal-Mart.

Ubisofts sandbox game: Ubisoft is making a new IP called Watch Dogs, appears to be an open world sandbox game, looks nice!

Nintendo updates: Wii U will be getting Mass Effect 3, Arkham City Armored Edition(designed for Wii-u's controllers), a new Super Mario called Super Mario Bros U, and the Wii-U will in fact support 2 touchpad controllers.

Quantic Dream: Quantic Dream the creators of Heavy Rain, have introduced their new IP, called Beyond: Two Souls

Sony talks Next-Gen

Post by Admin on Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:50 pm

Speaking to Gametrailers, U.S. boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Jack Tretton outlined the company's philosophy regarding the next generation of home consoles.

"We've never been first. We've never been cheapest, " Tretton said. "It's about being the best. If you can build a better machine, and it's going to come out a little bit later, that's better than rushing something to market that's going to run out of gas for the long term."

"Ideally, in a perfect world, you want the best machine that ships first, that's cheapest. But the number one goal is to be the best machine, and that's what we're always focused on."

FUS1ON Controller looks sweet!

Post by Admin on Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:21 am

Competition Controllers at their finest!
PowerA's new FUS1ON controller:

Boats a precision d-pad, ergonomic and slim form, and interchangeable grips that comes with it.
Also has a small button on the back illuminates the controller green, blue, or red.

The interchangeable grips are screwed in place which means a drop to the floor won’t see your controller exploding into a dozen pieces, but having the option to switch them out in the first place is a nice touch.

The FUS1ON also has a heavy duty braided 3-meter cord and comes with a protective travel case. Still no word on official release date or pricing.
